Abulean was born in 1856 (not 1865) and met Eduard Sievers in Germany in 1876 as a 21-year-old student. It is Abulean who Sievers first reported as having ejective stops in his pronunciation of Tiflis Armenian (1876:83; see also Hübschmann 1876:55-56).
