Each year the name of each city, and 1/60 of the amount paid (ostensibly donated to the godess Athena), were engraved on these stelae. The amount is written in the old Attic (Herodinian, acrophonic) number system, with the drachma symbol "𐅂" instead of the generic unit "Ι". This cropped version was created to illustrate the article.
